Someone who know there audio stuff

  RB & LY 182
Basically ive got a factory fitted sat nav in my 182.

the cd player is the standard one. cambasse stamped on the front.

ive been casting my eye over some expensive very tidy dvd screens and i fancy one.

only problem is i went to a local car audio specialist and he said he wud not touch my stereo as it connected with the sat nav.

for example if ur playing your music and you got the sat nav on wen u approuch lets say a roundabout it will automaticlly turn the sound down belt out the instuctions on which exit too take then go back to the music at the volume it was at previous.

anyone who has this sat nav have you changed ur cd player or not?

also just anyone that can shed some light on this for me!

I think you should be ok replacing you standard cd player.

the way I think it works is when the sat nav is giving info it mutes the standard head unit through its rear ISO connection and then using the same connection uses the speakers for its own use.

It should be just a case of pulling your old one out and replacing it with the new system.

they all use ISO connectors
or I could be talking balls

You can understand their reluctance to start messing when factory fitted sat navs are involved.

It would be interesting to see a new system fitted, with the nav replaced with a HU that can also run nav via a separate touch screen which could be fitted where the current screen is.

Would have to remove the nav buttons too which might be difficult to make look good again but once done it would look great and actually work well too.
