Something is telling me not to buy a 172

I followed Kenty172s Cup for a few weeks whilst I figured out finances, get myself sorted and then after seemingly months on sell it bloody goes days before Im ready to give him a call, only a few miles down the road too.

So then a stunning 2002 Iceberg 172 crops up in Shaftesbury, 13k, absolutely mint for only £8000. I book a test drive for tomorrow and virtually intend to buy it there and then barring any unforseen problems. Get a call today and the fecker is sold!

So I then hit Autotrader, nearest 172 I can find (trade) for similar price and mileage is 88 miles away...and not in the colour I want!

Anyone ever think that life is trying to tell you something? Driven Clios all my life (on my second now), was sooooo excited about tomorrow as its been my intention to get a RS since day one and then it falls apart, arse! I guess if ive waited that long a few more weeks/months wont hurt, I was just so close!

na just keep tryin mate, life might be tellin ya that those clios wernt the ones and you will find the 1 for you, im no fortune teller just a hunch, all good things come to those who wait

theres loads on about lots on autotrader mate.
Im on a £8500 budget, loads and loads of Cups around but not too often a full fat 172 (which Im after) crops up for that kind of money unless its pushing 60k miles or something.

You should be able to get an import one for that amount. I traded my 03 Import Monaco Blue 172 in with 23k on the clock at a main dealer for £8,600 July last year.

If many people here are to believed regarding the apparent depreciation, £6k should be more than enough for a decent 3yr old example (just posted about this very thing in a different thread exactly), havent seen much evidence of that though!

I see, not really keen on a 300 mile round trip to look at a private car though, havent got a great deal of time at the weekends. Maybe I need to start looking further afield, certainly seem to get cheaper the further I look away from me, average price seems to drop by at least a grand up north.

I just bought a mk 2 172, 02, silver, FRSH, 40k on the clock for 5750

Ok the ks are slightly high and the wheels are curbed to sh*t but its mint and has just had the big service and an early mot.. A lot of car for not a lot of money.
