^^ no news their really.. they are always being investigated lol

And there was an article not too long ago saying Blu-ray was outselling HD-DVD by 8:1 go figure...

it all depends who funds the study, who works for what company and has shares in what other company etc etc

the only thing for sure is that hd dvd players are cheaper

LOL I'm being stalked :S Musta touched a raw nerve

The thing is I'm not a pro Toshiba / HD-DVD fanboy, I'm just keeping an eye in both camps, it's simply a case of credit where credit's due v no time for those which cant implement something correctly to agreed, defined standards, it's that simple

And funnily enough, no it hasn't been ratified yet, how strange that is, maybe it will happen when the format celebrates it's 3rd birthday when they release the 8th generation players to the uneducated unsuspecting Joe Public

I never thought I'd see the day that Microsoft themselves could make another company look so inept, how ironic

Does PS3 not play any HD format DVD's?

if not what is that HD DVD symbol on the side of the machine?

  SLK 350
^No Ben, it certainly doesn't - simply wouldn't make commercial sense. There's an array of logos on the machine, none of them are HD-DVD.

thats why i got the PS3, its the upgradable blu-ray player;)

I got sent that casino royal BD movie, and tbh the quality didnt impress me that much, maybe i was expecting too much.

Or maybe like 90% of people you don't have a clue how to setup your LCD using the colour calibration cards on Casino Royale, and have probably got your display settings on the PS3 wrong too - superwhite off? rgb limited?

The picture is superb here, so I'd suggest looking at your setup instead of stating BD as a format isn't impressive. I can see how a bad setup may lead you to such opinions though, my mate was the same until I sorted his settings out.

cor your something else at the moment lol.

I'm no setup guru, no do i calibrate a tv everytime i watch it, but superwhite is on and RGB is on full.....not that i know wtf they do but i like to turn everything cool sounding on.

why do you tell me what i'm doing wrong then i'll give it a go.

Saying that, the trailors for BD were better than the movie itself.

  Ex Ph-Quick
if you read the article it says it DOESN't take into consideration PS3's which are the Best Blu ray players on the market so it's BS really

Most important thing is to turn off noise reduction or ant filtering settings on your TV, also turn down the sharpness. Basically the image on the disc is so good that you don't need any settings on your TV to brush it up.

Leave Superwhite and RGB full enabled, might be also worth setting the resolution to different scales - some people prefer the look of 720p to 1080i for example.
