just wondering if anyone else who drives 1.8 16v clio has a really stiff clutch, as i said before the ratchet was screwed and botched on with wire, with the new ratchet would it make it less sfiff? (lol at my english)

Do you mean the peddal mechanism?

If it is you should fit a new one because it is self adjusting.

Mine seemed stiff when I first got it, but i was driving a 1.4 RT before.
After about a year of owening the car the clutch exploded, I replaced it last xmas and it is alot better than it ever was, and its not just me getting used to it, my mate has a valver and his is like mine was when i first got it.

Best advise; New clutch(horrible job) new cable and peddal mechanism

My Williams had a really stiff clutch - didn't need any new parts or replacing - it was just stiff. I think most valver owners have the same issues lol

I personally think you should just replace the clutch, I dont think the ratchet you talk about will make any difference.

The 16v is called a valver because that and the williams are the only 16v engines you can get in the MK1, all others are 8v.
What has been done to your car?
Where you from?
Pics!!!
