  Clio 1.2 16v
But i just done an insurance quote on a 1.2 clio 52 plate valued at 3500 doing 5k miles a year for myself and it was 1500

now i added my dad as a NAMED driver and it dropped down to 541.41.

why?

  R.I.P 182
because theres a chance he would be driving it too which means you'd be driving it less??

Mine is 1k with my mum on it for the 182 but nearly 2 without, good thing is she does drive it so it works for both of us :D

The quote goes down because a more experienced driver will (in theory) be driving the car which reduces the risk of it being involved in an accident.

It's well know that an experienced named driver can significantly reduce insurance costs - especially if they're female.

I've put my Mum on my policy before and it lowered it by a few hundred. Now it puts it up though for some reason, maybe they have realised women can't drive? ;)

Good effort lol, obviously they have seen sense, and im sure puttin ur nan on ur policy wouldnt be a good idea cause Oap's cant drive either.

My mums a named driver on mine, she's not driving it though.
She hates driving the old mans 172, so god knows what she'd make of mine.

I personally think they charge more when it's one person because they think you are young and stupid and will pay with no questions.

You get respect when you add mum. lol.

ive been trying to sort out insurance tonight and alot of places it goes up when i add my parents, the lowest i was getting was £715 with admiral, but with bell i added the parets it took it to 400odd, but ine i speced upt he policy ( legal, windscreen, hire car, drive other third parts) it still only came out at £520. job done me thinks a but if a drop from £1300 last year. Mind you i will be 21 in this policy.

check the policy your quitign especislly the excess you'll probs find you have a compulsary £250-£400 excess ontop of your voluntary. they always try ot get you one way or another.

Aye, must young drivers have to pay £250 on top of their voluntary contributions, only have to worry about that after you crash though! ;)

.............not so, nothing to do with respect!
just that is your mum drives the car she is less likely to have an accident because she is a better more experienced driver (LOL!:) ;) ...worse still? so is your nan! )
My son pays £1800 for a clio rsi with 3 points and my other son he pays £2000 for a clio valver! no points 1 accident (cost £300)
my daughter pays £700 for her clio 1.2 ltd edition or summink!
I pay £460 for a 172 with 15000 miles p.a. yeah im old and i got a snooper and im sort of sensible.........sometimes ;)

I hate insurance companies and always will do because they steal my kids wages, they are all without exception robbing *ankers

p.s. that fiesta = total sh*t if you dont mind me saying so! gimmie the 106 anyday!

its generally
17-21 =£250-400
21-25 =£150-£250
25+ with less than 2 years experience= £150-300
on tesco its £400
but wheni quoted a 1*2 they had a compulsary 600
NU simple cover have a generic 375 plus the young person excess of 250 or 150- shocking.

i thikn the insurance thing should be more involved lol, ihate getting tarred withthe same brush as all the ned and idiot boy racers round here. its not like they are driving anythign special.
any idea how boring it is watching two 1.0ls trying to drag race......tiresome. they'd go faster if the drivers got out and pushed.
