Sort of a harsh vibration sound...? Engine Mounts?

Hi again... lol

I don't floor my car often but some t*at gave me no choice this morning. I've noticed this before and I'm pretty sure it's mount related. Planning on getting them all changed when I get some money saved up anyway!

Basically, it only happens in first gear. If I floor it, it fights for traction and theres like an intermitent harsh vibration type sound from the engine bay...? Hard to describe and my camera doesn't pick it up well enough to take a vid.

Just wanted to check that it sounded like mounts and nothing more serious that I should get looked at sooner?

I had similar sounds, it was my exhaust although it sounded like it was coming from up front.

If it is mounts then the engine will be moving a lot when you change gear.

Give the engine a shake, see if it moves at all. Then boot it in 1st (lol) and do a quick change to 2nd, if it knocks your mounts are knackered.

There is some movement in engine when rocked tbh. I'll compare the movement to my mates... there's bound to be a little bit right?

If it is exhaust related then that'll be eliminated soon as I'm going back to standard... or stealth. Got some horrid 3 inch oval tailpipe hanging under the bumber atm. Really not my thing. lol

I've got a few plans for the car, and changing all the mounts is one of them. Glad you don't think it's anything sinister.

Tried what you suggested

There's not a knocking as such... Buy there's a judder. Nothing audible that stands out... (apart from the noise described)?

It couldn't be gear box related... Could it?? I don't lose power or anything. I suppose if a gear box made that noise it'd go bang, so probably not. I'll get Fred to look over it when I get some cash.

i have the same noise on my ph1, i fink its something to do with the exhaust, banging on a heatshield somewhere.

I have this too. Looked at my exhaust mount and it's lose. Like I can move it up and down easily and it will bounce lol.

That could make sense! I'll get it on the ramps at the weekend and take a look.

There's only the exhaust mounts under the car isn't there?
