Sounds

ive got the "sound pack" fitted from renault in my 1.2 16v 03 reg. what exactly does this consist of, over the standard package that would have come in the car, as it stated i have "upgraded" speakers. what exactly are they?

also, could i fit 6x9s in the place of the original rear speakers (down by the side of each rear passenger seat)?????

cheers in advance

you will have to ask renault but its a 4X44w headunit (cd)

and i think thats it

No you cant fit 6x9s down there. it would sound sh*te

sound pack is a con i ordered mine with a cassette and binned it when i was driving back from the dealer

But dont dispair the standard system isnt that bad

oh well, not to worry. i got the sound pack free!! told the dealer i wouldnt buy the car if i didtn have free sounds pack, and mats. cos i wanted the changer u see. however mats are w*nk.

any further advice on 6x9s??? itheyre my next thing, before i go for amps n subs.

if you are installing a sub(s) DO NOT install 6x9s they will play against each other making the sound sound sh*te

upgrading the speakers to better quality ones, but still the same size so they are a straight swap.. get some nice high watt rms ones..

new head unit

components (at front of car) - the more you spend on these the better as they are the basis of the whole system)

disconnect the rear quarter panel speakers, or upgrade them to 5" subs, will take quite a bit of work, but will be well worth it

then subs & amps

but if you are gonna upgrade to 5" subs then

a) you would need a crossover of filter to block out the high notes

b) you wouldnt get enough power from the HU to power the subs.. you would need to amp them in which case you would be better of with line level outputs, in which case you may aswell keep the rear original speakers plugged in for "fill"..

what size are the front door speakers? i wanna replace these for some nice alpine jobbies. i assume this is direct swap, old ones out - new ones in

any tips, nice one

the front speakers are 5.25" components

to have 5|"subs in the rear 1/4 panels you would have to have an amp to power them, they usually run at around 70wRMS so a small stereo amp with adjustable filters or crossovers would be perfect

the perfect sound state will have no treble from the rear, hence ditching the standard mids

yes I agree that you sound stage should not have such sounds coming from the rear (not prodemantly anyway)

as they say, you dont go to a rock concert and turn your back to the stage, which is exactly what you are doing if you put big 6x9s on the rear shelf.. eughh..

however.. if you fade the stereo to almost completly the front and keep the rear speakers connected .. it does produce a bit of fill..

so i could replace the fronts with alpine 5" components? how easy would the standard dash tweeters be to replace with the alpine ones from the components kit. all this can be ran from the head unit, right??

am i correct in thinking that replacing the rears with better full rance ones, would be a bad idea?

ta

it is very simple to fit aftermarket speakers into the factory locations

yes they can be run from the head unit, but would benefit being run from an amp

yep, IMHO replcing the rears with full range speakers is a big no no, but other people prefer it that way
