Spacers?

hi can someone help me, prob a stupid ? but f**k it...............what do spacers do?lol

They move the wheels away from your hub

(make ur wheels further out towards the arch)

As show in the pic below (example, not my car)

I use 5mm Spacers as my wheels are quite close to my Coilover Suspension so obviously dont want them touching it.

so could i use them to make my wheels stick out more?
