Spark Plugs

  Clio 1.2 16v
Hi All, i think my spark plugs need changing. How much would these set me back?

When i first start it in the morning, it really struggles, and keeps bouncing between 0-1000 revs for 20 seconds. Also i have noticed a lack of power especially in the lower gears.

Suggestions?

yeah well with the sports you needed a long thin socket bit but most can you can get a special tool, easier to do with a socket if you got 1

i think you may have to take of the onlet on the 1.2s if i recall correctly so not difficult just a bit more time consuming than most cars

ah ok cool, i have done a bit of research of people with the same problems and apparently a Renault agent can re-programme the injection computer. 90% of clios suffer from this problem or it could be the ignition coils and hd leands

How does the engine run once its warmed up? I dont know about the remap thing your talking about but as its a main dealer jobbo its gunna cost you a pretty penny so id look at the mechanical side first

it runs fine when its warmed up, just first thing in the morning. Although may be in my head, but feels like the acceleration is not as good

It may just need the gaps respacing then. I had similar issues in mine when i had it and i adjusted the gap of the plug.

cars dont run all that well when there cold anyway. Or has it got worse since you got it? (considering it aint bloody warm atm!)

lol i know -4 the other morning. it does it if ive been at work for 8 hours as well, and for example it's 8 degrees outside

Ah okay! Theres quite a lot of things it could be but in all honesty i doubt the plugs would be responsible. more likely a sensor somewhere. I'm thinking maybe a temp sensor or something but its hard to say on here!
