speaker help pleaasse!!

  BMW e46 320 Ci Sport

Well having updated my rear speaker recently and noticed the amazing difference i thought i might upgrade the fronts and tweeters too. First time ive done this so i wanted a little help. First of all, the component systems ive looked into all have crossovers...erm...what r these for?? I know i prob sound dumb but i dunno what theyre supposed to do and where i would put em, i just figured it would be a simple take old ones out and replace...but evidentally not. Can any1 help please!

Hi

The crossovers receive the signal from the stereo, and filter the high frequencies to the tweeter, and the medium frequencies to the mid. depending on the size of the x-overs, you could possibly fit them behind the dash. Im not familiar with the layout of your model of car, so I couldnt advise on the best location and any probs you are likely to encounter.

Which components are you going for? Maybe someone else on here with the same car can give you a few tips.

i found it best to put the in the boot on mine. Firstly whats your budjet? are you getting an amp? what HU have you got? As they wount perfom that well unless you have an amp.

I dont have an amp yet, was gonna get one but at a later date. I have a sony m850mp headunit and was looking at audiobahn comps or infinity ones. I hhave a newest model clio. If the car already has 6 poitn speakers presumably i wont need the cross overs then?!?

you will need the crossovers if you wnt to do things properly

tweeters in dash and 5.25" mid driver in doors

IMHO avoid audiobahn comps, they are too flashy, but others opinions differ, to be perfectly honest, phoenix gold are about as good a speaker as you can get for not much money at the minute

Check out incarexpress.co.uk they have very very good deals on components. Going to do mine, but trying to find out if you can leave the existing prossover in (If there is one) rather than try and rewire the door!

You got choice of MB Quart, JL, CDT, Polks! to name a few

Look under http://www.caraudiodirect.co.ukwww.caraudiodirect.co.uk

Tweeters-High pass

Mids- Midbass/bass

This is the function of a x-over to split hi+low freqs into your spks.

You could mont these in the glovebox, behind doorcards even the boot..
