Speaker size

  LY R27
Hi all,

Have got some 16.5 speakers with component tweeters. Firstly, will they fit in the front and secondly how do i go about putting the tweeters in? Do i have to take off the dash?

did a search before posting thids but without spending hours trawling through looking for 197 specific details thought it would be quicker to post ;)

Right, following on from previous posts, i have determined that 16.5 are too big, therefore i will go for 13cm, as stated in previous added link.

However, before starting another thread without searching and incurring the wrath and shame of not searching i thought i would atleast give it a try.

So, after trawling through lots of pointless threads i found the one above. It would seem that no one had actually answered this guys question:

..."I was just wanting to know the best way to replace the tweeter in the dash?"....

So, sorry for the long post and thank you if you've got this far, i have some questions:

1: Can one install tweeters in the existing tweeter recesses without taking the dash off?

2: If so how is this done, and who has done it?

3: if not how does one take the dash off?

4: also i will be using crossover boxes, where is the best place to mount these?

Many thanks if you've stayed with this post. I guess i could have just started a new one with just the qustions and halved this post size but that wouldn't be sensible now would it!;);)

If you order the pioneer Renault specific speakers no dash removal required, straight swap.if not follow fubars guide on dash removal and the mounting will have to be dremmeled bigger
crossovers can either be put behind footwell plastics or behind the dash once you've took the top off.

thanks for the reply, i will do a search for the dash removal topic, however, i fear that as a non member i won't be able to access the guides section.

I will have a look for the these specifc speakers, do you have them on your w/site?

my bro has 13cm vibe in his 205, with amp and sub and they sound awesome. i've had infinty reference speakers in an old punto running off standard hu, they were good considering they weren't amp'd or anything.

you have any recommendations?

the JBL speakers i had in my first car were pretty good - 6x9's running off the same amp as my sub and 13cm door speaker running of the sony hu - that was a few years ago now though..
