speed sensor "a"

had my fault codes read today, the code it came up with was P0500 Vehicle speed sensor "a"

any ideas? :S

Any one? Cars feeling really sluggish at times, and when changing gear or setting off its like there's a mega delay when releasing clutch and applying revs, it's as if the revs dip a tad when you lift clutch/accelerate, they drop about 500rpm then go up as normal. Cleaned out all the intake etc still the same....
