Speeding warning!

  Renault Clio 1.4 RT
Hi everyone. Yesterday I received a speeding warning letter from the police. It said that i had been caught in my local village, doing 34 in a 30, by a 'Community Speed Officer.' Anyone any ideas as 2 what they r as i haven't seen any mobile cameras & there r no fixed ones?? :dapprove:

They are just locals who are given radar guns and take your number down if you are speeding and they give them to the police who then do what you got and send you a letter telling you to slow down!

Just take it as a friendly warning behave and count yourself lucky it's better than some points.

  Punto. Wahey.
What a ridiculous policy, I don't often say this as I'm don't consider myself a Conservative but this country is going mad.

All this is going to do is create groups of militant yokel village pensioners radaring any car that goes past (as evidenced by the fact that you were doing 34mph) because they have nothing better to do.

yeah i got stopped by a community police officer in my village for apparently speeding, because he thought i was going fast because of the sound of my car as i was coming over a hill! its called a section 59er,and said if i get caught again, they have the right to impound my car??!

What ever happened to +/-10% + 2?

To be honest I'm pretty sure the Community Speed Wardens have no power whatsoever. As Rory says, they're just nosey old buggers with nothing better to do than stick their noses in. I mean clearly you weren't flat out or driving recklessly.

If your name appears on lists though it ups the chance some traffic rozzer will take it upon himself to get officious. That would be my only concern.

its stupid this,
im proud to say i have a clean licence after 18 months of driving but i think thats mostly just luck on my part.
u only need 6 points in the 1st 2 years to get banned so thats getting caught doin 40 in a 30!!! once thats all it will take

i think i would have a few words to say if i got stopped and i found out they were make believe police people. They are allowed to send you a warning yes, but stopping you.... thats a load of b****cks and i wouldnt be too amused to find out they were fake!

If I had and encounter like that I would be more inclined to lay down rubber just to spite them.

Thankfully, these so called 'community wardens' are few and far between, and yes, they have NO powers of enforcement and certainly no powers whatsoever to stop a vehicle. They are not police officers (obviously), but are probally communicating with police in much the same way as neighbourhood watch groups do.
