Speedo needle vibrating on startup?

Hey folks

When I start up the car the speedo needle is flickering a bit for about 3 seconds max. Have any of you experienced this? The trip comp is also reseting randomly but a quick search showed that a change of battery may fix this. Would the battery change also sort this problem?

We are talking about a Mk2 Phase 2 172 here.

Yep chnage the battery seem to help some dahbaords have failed but if your cars say 4 years old+ chnage the battery.

Take the top of the dash. In the center there should be a earthing point check its got a good connection.
