Speedo not working and mileage not going up!

Hi Guys - I picked up a 172 Sport last night and the speedo isn't working and the mileage isn't going up!

Im hoping this isn't a major problem but does anyone know if this is a common fault or how to fix?

Speed sensor broken, quite common. Mines on the way out too.
