speedo problems

have just purchased a clio 1.8 16v which is very nice and rolling round on 17s,the problem im having is that on driving home down the motor im seemed to be leaving everyone behind even though i was only doing 60 mph.i phoned my mate behind me and ask the speed we were going and he said between 70-90 at various points so my speedo is way way out is this problem easy to cure????

make sure the speedo was re-calibrated after the 17s were fitted?

the 17s wouldnt throw it out that much !! Sounds like somethings quite wrong !! Have it checked as that wont pass an MOT and your more likely to get done for speeding !!

ive no idea how you do it, unless you get into the gearbox and change the drive gears

i dont know how you could recalibrate the speedo without changing the speedo drive gear with one with a different ratio.but i doubt anybody sells different ratio speedo drives anyway.
