speedo

Car  Civic Type -R FN2
does putting larger alloys on your car (17") effect your speedo, because surely it is measured on the rotation of the wheels?

or so the insurance said?

cheers tom

It can, it depends on the rolling radius on the tyre a slimline 172 may be smaller hence make your speedo underread gains 15's or 14's.

isnt the speedo conected 2 the gear box? there for it wud take the readings from the gears not wheels???

Yes but if you have a circumfrence of 1mtr on the wheel for each rotation you move 1 mtr, if you have a circumfrence of 2mtrs you move 2 mtrs per rotation
