Sounds good Mark, yes Matt mentioned you were thinking of getting some other parts done I think it will look great! I did but only from underneath lol, the car was up on the ramp so could only see part of the car but what I could see looked really nice and I really like all the things you have done to it :) I will be back at the workshop later in the week if it is still there by then so I will hopefully get a chance to see the top half of the car :D

I saw your car at Tdf today "space cadet' its very nice and I have asked Matt to swop the reg plates over and hope you dont notice lol

Did you carbon wrap the mirrors and door strips yourself as they look very good ? any tips where from etc ?

The orange suspension also looks great, the welding and paints to a high standard you will be very pleased with it when you collect it!

Cheers

I will most likely be collecting it Thursday evening so it will be around till then. I'm really looking forward to collecting it and feeling what a difference everything has made. If by any chance you're around we could take Faulks for a pint?

Ha ha, thanks mate. I wouldn't notice if I found £20k of bullion in your glove box for me.

Again thanks, yes I wrapped the mirrors, door strips and also the spoiler myself, the mirrors were a proper bloody pain in the arse to do, took about 3 hours each and I definitely wouldn't recommend doing them/them yourself. They have all served a purpose as the old mirrors were scuffed and the strips are off a PH2 so are a different color so I wrapped them. The wrap on the mirror edging is 'rippling' so actually I'm thinking of taking it off and spraying them and the strips myself with some satin black to match the wheels. Possibly might get the roof and spoiler done professionally if it looks ok. I bought the 3M wrap from CarbonMods: http://www.carbonmods.co.uk/Departments/dinoc-3m-carbon-fibre-vinyl.aspx

They were really helpful on the phone, would really recommend them.

Thanks regarding the suspension bits, I can't wait to finally see them in the metal on Thursday.

I was doing 'chin ups' off the rear beam on this onSat.

Ha ha, did you use the uprights as dumbbells?

Space cadet , thanks for the info as you will see mines got some marks on the mirror and bumpers or as my mate calls it "race pianta" lol it did have Advan written back to front on the rear quarter when I hit a marker post.

That would of been really good Mark but unfortunately I am not down until Friday morning :(! We will have to meet up soon! I am going to be at Brands in March, April and May so would be good if you are around for any of them if you fancy coming and then I can get a chance to look around the car properly! :)

Let us know how you find the new additions and I hope you like them :)

Ouch! With regards your mirrors would just recommend sanding and spraying them, you’d have to sand the mirrors before wrapping so you’re 75% there anyway.

I’m out at Brands Wednesday March 14th if you fancy a pace car!? Are your days at Brands mid-week or at the weekend, if a weekend then I’ll definitely come down.

I had seen the one on the 14th but we are at Anglesey a couple of days before so it just depends if the car needs anything in between. My plan was to see how we do at Anglesey and then if the car can go straight back out then I was going to last minute book the 14th so that would be really good :) The other days I was thinking of were the 28th March and 4th April so unfortunately not weekends :( I will try my best then to come on the 14th :D

Are you just an international play-boy or is there any work that gets in the way of your gentleman-racer pastime? My spare day’s holidays are sparse due to holidaying with the wife otherwise would’ve come along to one of your day’s mid-week. Would be good to have something else to play with on track if you can make the 14th as I’m getting bored of embarrassing GT3’s and R8’s.

Haha I don't think I would suit the international playboy image (You'll understand why when you see me ;) lol) Unfortunately there is work and I have got a meeting on the 15th that I have got to do a lot of prep for but I think I should still be able to make it work with Brands :D!

No worries it does seem like weekend day's at Brands are fairly sparse as I just had another look :(

I will certainly try my best to make it Mark although I will warn you I will be trying to learn the circuit so will take a while to get upto speed ;) lol, It has always been a circuit too far from home for me to trackday in the past unfortunatly but seen as how I will be racing here I don't have much choice and it is a great track so am looking forward to trying it! Maybe if your feeling generous you can share some of your wisdom and experience of the circuit on the day :D

I’m digressing I know, but the last time I was at Brands there was a 430 Challenge car, I’m not a Ferrari guy but that looked the absolute nuts, it hovered up everything on track and then sat patiently raised up on its air-jacks when in the pits. If/when I’m an international play-boy I want a 430 Challenge and then would just travel the world doing track-days. Anyway, back to the Clio hey. I work Monday to Friday and the track-days are usually in the working week so I spread them out every few weeks and unfortunately have to loose a day’s holiday otherwise I’d do a load more. It would be great if you could make the 14th, would happily help you get up to speed with the track, it’s the shorter Indy circuit which really suits the Clio and is a good circuit to set-up your car on.

Haha I'm afraid I am a Ferrari guy (although not F1) they are great cars and it was nice to see the 458 challenge cars flying around at Donington the other day! Haha sounds like a plan Mark :)! Thank you for that I would really appreciate the advice! I will certainly try my best to make it, March is going to be an expensive month I think :( It will need new tyres in-between Anglesey and Brands I fear! It's in my diary now anyway so unless there is any significant issue with the car at Anglesey then I will be there :)
Going to see if we are able to come and play on the 14th.
That will be great Tony and I am looking forward to seeing the Burpspeed car for the first time :D

  220 Trophy
Make that a 458 Challenge car then. Or would I want a GT3 RSR??!! Great, hopefully see you and Tony on the 14th then. (I’ve seen a poster of the Burpspeed car on the wall in the TDF garage.)

  182cup & 172 racecar
Sorry fella's, Wed was just impossible for us to get together.

We will be there on the Monday 12th instead.

There you go again taking “another day off work”, so while you two are out on track I’ll be at my desk organising my paperclips.

  220 Trophy
That’s one thing I can’t do without – SLEEP!! ….I don’t think I get enough of it as it is.Yep, hopefully collecting it after work tomorrow, sometime around 18:00, just depends on whether the bits arrive this afternoon and everything is assembled and tested by then.

  220 Trophy
I thought you were inferring that you might be around? Will get Matt to take some pictures and I can post them up.

No unfortunately not Mark :( Not able to come down until Friday morning so won't get to see it and I think I am now just meeting them at Bruntingthorpe rather than the workshop. Can't wait to see the finished result :)

  220 Trophy
I'm not picking the car up until probably Tuesday or Wednesday evening now due to delays at the powder-coaters. No real problem, just means a bit longer wait.

  220 Trophy
....did you meant the wait untill I collect it will go much faster, or that the work done will make the car so much faster?

  220 Trophy
Finally collected the car last night, all the powder-coated bits looks great, the drive home down the A14 and M11 wasn’t the best representation but initial thoughts are the car feels more ‘direct’. There’s no delay in turning the steering wheel and the car changing direction, the ride is’nt any noticeably harder on smooth flat tarmac, but driving over a cats-eye is now like driving over a brick and pot-holes really hurt. There’s a more road noise but the car was really noisy before so it’s no real problem. All in all am very impressed, obviously I did all this for the track and I’m out on the 14th so will report back then. One of Matt’s colleagues took some pictures while it was on the ramp so once I get them will try and post them up.

The suspension looked really good especially the rear beam around the shock mounts as I always thought that looked a bit iffy all the load going through the bolt.
I know what you mean regarding pot holes etc as when I had a Mini that was fully rose jointed (spherical bearings) every bad bump you expected the suspension to punch its way into the car.
Whens your next trackday ?
I pick mine up later today

Am at Brand on the 14th.I think I saw yours last night up on the ramp (due to regs its standard bar the engine – is that right?), there were, including mine, three silver PH1’s….. and a matt grey one skulking in the corner.
