Spirit Blue Ford Fiesta ST-2 CQuartz Finest Detail

Hi all, A few months ago I was contacted about applying some protection to a brand new Ford Fiesta ST-2, so a date was set to apply the superb CQuartz Finest a few days after delivery of the car.

The car was in great condition with very little iron / tar contamination and minimal dealer-inflicted marks or swirls, but the car was cleaned thoroughly as usual to ensure the best bonding with the sealant.

Moving onto the detail, starting with wheels

Car foamed with AMDetails Foam to remove any loose dirt

Then washed with AMDetails Bubbles Shampoo and the new Microfibre Madness Sponge

Onto decontamination; Almost zero Tar and Iron contamination showing on the paintwork, brake dust on wheels being the main issue, soon dissolved with 3 hits of IronX.

The car was very carefully clayed with the most mild of CarPro clays, again picking up very little, but leaving the car in perfect condition to move inside for refinement.

The car was showing very little in the way of swirls or imperfections, so the main aim was to remove those before laying down the protection.

If you've made it this far, thanks for reading! Comments always appreciated. :)

Re: Performance Blue Ford Fiesta ST-2 CQuartz Finest Detail

Looks good, didn't realise you're now a cquartz detailer.

What do you think of the MF wash mitt/sponge? Was thinking of getting one on my next PB order

Re: Performance Blue Ford Fiesta ST-2 CQuartz Finest Detail

Thanks Dave, yea, have been for a few months now.

I don't think much of it tbh mate, it holds the water far too well, and its a really firm sponge inside, so you have to squeeze it hard as you wash just to get the water out!

Maybe it will loosen up but I think the original mitt would probably be better.

Re: Performance Blue Ford Fiesta ST-2 CQuartz Finest Detail

SPIRIT BLUE!!! ;)

looks good, your doing my next car btw :p

Not in finest though :(

Re: Performance Blue Ford Fiesta ST-2 CQuartz Finest Detail

Because it sucks!

Ok, not entirely but it's far too fussy for my liking

I do wonder why it went wrong for you mate!

Could never call one of those a 'pretty' car, but the colour's awesome :) great job.

Cracking Andy!!!

Very good job you've done there mate!

Lovely Job!! So tempted to get one of these!

thanks a lot guys!

Whe is the white one being done?

nice work btw!

Cheers Adrian, not sure yet, most likely November I'd imagine, he's bought coilovers instead this month!

Definitely mate, it's such a nice colour. Thanks a lot!

Thanks, C2v3 is my go-to now for wheels, trims and rubber etc, because it's so easy to apply and it will easily see the wheels through winter!

I'm going to have to get myself a bigger bottle of this. Can't see the 100ml lasting long at all. Sealant for everything!

Lovely stuff Andy. Simply brilliant colour to work with. Awesome little car.

Really impressed with C2V3 on wheels, I was surprised though, didn't expect it to hold up quite so well! Brilliant stuff.

The other one to try is Sonax Brilliant Shine quick detailer, adds more shine than C2v3!

Ease of use and durability of sealants make them very hard to ignore.

C2V3 will last longer and I found it was "easier" to apply... but not exactly difficult either of them, eh! Interesting what you've said about looks. I still think C2V3 looks cracking, but red is probably an easier colour to get the best out of with something like this?

Likewise, after seeing Jim had used it and got a good 3 months with a single application, I did mine up North a few weeks/months back. Same with the arches. Still going strong. Might need to be redone before the worst of Winter, but have the garage of Xmas, so will do it then.

Thanks Kev! Really do love this colour and the car is brilliant.

As you say, for something with seemingly such little to it in how it's so watery, I will never know how it's so durable!

C2v3 will last longer I'm sure mate, I just haven't seen it adding anything to the gloss on whites, blues, grey or silver!

Maybe I don't have a keen enough eye, but I don't see the wow factor after buffing like with a wax or even Tough Coat or Sonax!

Not heard of EXOv3, v2 has not long been out but I can't see why anyone would choose it over C1 when application is just the same. At least with v1 it was spray on a MF, buff on buff off.

C2 and C1.5 which ever version only lasted a month before brake dust was bonding and water behaviour died. guess it depends on the mileage and use, but I wouldn't have thought an ST will get driven gently.

I have my suspicions as to why but I'm not going to go into it on here. It's still working, just not like everyone else's lol

Sad to hear it mate, don't be afraid to complain though if you aren't happy with it!

With all the C2V3 love, has anyone tried EXO v3 ?

As Dave says, I wouldn't choose it over C1 or CQuartz.

Interesting to hear mate, cleaning my wheels after three months I can still see C1.5 beading and sheeting!

Stopped catering now. Car still looks good when I clean it, hopefully getting a new one in a few months time so will do some research into other options when the time comes.

might put some dealer supplied supaguard on it trololol

after the first month, they wouldn't wash up clean with pre spray and pressure rinse like they did the first month. and without physical working with a small detailing brush they wouldn't comne up clean. admittedley this was still only using something like citrus power instead of a dedicated wheel cleaner or fallout remover, so there was still something present

Fair enough! Let me know if you need anything doing.

What you planning on getting?

Ah ok, I generally always use brushes though because nothing comes up clean enough for my liking! :(

Gyeon q2 stuff seems to be getting great reviews. Can't wait to try it.

What happened in the end with all those rumours about it being CarPro stuff?

It's still with you? When is he collecting it?

Im going to bring my new car to you when I'm back, also when I get round to buying it. Money is burning in my pockets (I wish).

Will do mate.

Planning on another focus (waiting for the face lifted version) st3 this time with all the options ticked.

im being massivley tempted by a 135i though, if they facelift that so it looks less ugly then I may be tempted to go back to BMW

Turned out to be rubbish mate. I'm a bit disappointed with their shampoo though as that turned out to be gloss enhancing :(

Read this description, quite impressive imo.

http://www.polishedbliss.co.uk/acatalog/new-products-gyeon-q2-rim.html

Hadn't realised it was gloss enhacing, as a lot of the descriptions claim it adds nothing just a bare basic shampoo. I have noticed that a lot of nano sealant companies have their own shampoo that adds to the protection, I'm a little unsure on this as most claim they need a bare shampoo.

reading the pages of arguments in the CQ v Gyeon it did seem to me that a lot of products came from the same factory, but no-one will ever really know the truth if it is.

That's exactly why I bought it Dave, so i'm a little annoyed nowhere stated it was gloss enhancing. I still used it last night and I was quite impressed.

please excuse my ignorance, but I didn't realise c2v3 and sonax bsd were comparable, I thought they were two completely different types of product?

Is that a problem though, Ant? Granted I wouldn't want one over my waxes, but over C2V3 or a nano sealant, I'm not sure I'd be that fussed...

Ah I see, you really can't trust what these guys say can you!

Haha! Yea he's getting it tonight.

Bet you can't wait to be in the S2K clan

Not going to hang around for a new FRS?!

I suppose not directly comparable, no, but I was comparing how easy they are to apply and that the Sonax seems to add more to the finish than the C2v3.

Ah I see, wasn't a dig or anything though, just curious as I don't know all that much about these products!
