Went to look at a clio 182 FF with cup suspension on Saturday.

Phoned guy up Friday to arrange a viewing , at first I couldn't pin him down to a day/time, asked him if he actually wanted to sell the thing:S . Car was an incentive bought by his dad to start work, now had a Focus ST. Finally arranged viewing for Sat morning. He said anytime after 11. If he wasn't in his dad would show me the car. He decribed it as mint without a mark on it - anywhere and assured me he'd wash it.

Turned up at 11.30 (traffic bad) Knocked on the door NO anwser. Tried a few more times and went off. His dad came out and appologised, his son had not come home. I started to look round the car while his dad searched for the keys. He returned embarrassed, his son had not left the keys!!!

Car was unwashed , and not as described, certainly not mint! Failed to tell me about poor accident repair and crack in front bumper! Apparently it had been up for sale for 6 weeks, originally for £9.5k. I nearly choked!

I feel a bit bad now for taking out my frustration out on the old man, I drove 50 miles and couldn't even look inside or start it!!! CNUT11

If anyone decides to look at an arctic blue clio 182 (54 reg) near to croydon, advertised privately, beware.

I'm not in a rush to sell it, if it doesn't sell until then so be it! Cheers for the advise though :approve:

I had a similar experience when on a Weds I'd arranged to view the car in the daylight on the Sunday (he couldn't do the Sat). I set aside the whole of Sunday to view the car.

I didn't ask for an address until the Sunday as I thought he might be worried giving out an address to a stranger and that I might try and nick it.

So, Sunday morning comes around, I give him a ring and I ask where he lives and he turns round and says 'errr, I've sold it'.

I was like WTF!! You could of at least sent me a text to let me know. Feckin eejit. A waste of a day and morning in with the mrs - not amused!

MINT IS MINT in anybody book or should be! Very good cond , is a slight scuff on the alloy, or a few small stone chips, ect, but these all should be told to the buyer before hand! a crack in the bumper? thats 600 quid off the asking price!

A few mates of mine did this to an old ICT teacher who wasnt actually qualified and made us fail ICT a levels.... after about a week his number became 'unavailable'.... so rest of the week is a good plan...any longer and the number will be changed!

Without seeing the damage who knows? if its bad enough tho, you may need a bumper and respay to mint the car up again!

The accident repair wasn't related to the crack in the front bumper, it was on the rear quarter under the filler cap and the rear bumper was out of shape. The crack was an extra!
