Spongy brake pedal after front pad change

Changed front pads today and afterwards my foot goes to the floor now I've done pads a few times and never had this issue.

I realise 9/10 it's air in the system but not sure that's the issue tbh.

I did crack open the bleed nipples whilst compressing the piston back - only drained less than 100ml out both sides whilst the reservoir was never dry.

Any ideas?

Yeah you cracked the bleed nipples without bleeding them which is the issue you windowlicker 😂

Not sure why, if you take it to a garage they wouldn't do that.

Why didn't you just take the top of the brake fluid reservoir when you pushed the piston back? 🤷‍♂️

Now the fun begins.

Cheers for the abuse lads😆 I thought i'd try a different method after someone did it this way, I do normally just take the lid of the reservoir.

Schoolboy error.

p.s I did intend to bleed them anyway as they are due, dust the old Gunson off.

According to this you were right @Leo182
But I've bled them rears first, fronts first also in the order recommended in the post I've put a link to and all ways worked. As long as you keep the reservoir topped up it never made any difference whatsoever.

Start furthest away from the reservoir bud

The driver's side rear is really the furthest away if you consider that the brakes lines run under the passenger side and then has to run along the beam to get to the caliper.

Doesn't make f**k all difference to me because I usually bleed mine 3 times over anyway😂

Easy really, only a case of unscrewing lines.

I'm guessing that is the pipe that runs along the rear beam?

Nope, running towards the middle/front of the car.

Forgot to add, I cant see a obvious place where you can unscrew the line, is it in a silly french place?

I've got braided on mine, piece of piss to fit. Might need a few cable ties to tie it to the rear axle properly and you might need a washer for the union where it meets the hardline on the car as the spring clips on my lines were up to snuff

The piece from the abs pump or from the rear? Shouldnt replace the line straight out of the pump with braided

That's a bit more tricky as it runs to the abs unit. I'm not sure if it splits before that or if you have to take it out at the pump.

Ok, I may have got that wrong just been out to check with my torch! and it seems to run across the rear beam and THEN down towards the front passenger wheel.

It splits near where the exhaust goes up over the beam.

So which is it, the straight bit under the car or clipped to the beam?

It's clipped to the beam heading over to the nsr wheel.

Yeah they both unscrew there at that bracket.

Also try and hold back the leak / keep the system topped up. Otherwise you'll be a world of pain if it runs dry.

Could try holding the brake pedal down with a bar against the seat.
