Sport interior in MK2.

Ok so whilst trying to fit a sport interior into my MK2 I hit a little snag. The torx holding on the rear bench are turning so far then not turning any more ? Anyone have any idea what could be wrong ?

It's because they go right through to underneath car so chances are ends are all grubby/dirty. Just use penetrating grease

Tried that... It's rounded off inside

Is this after you've removed the support strut and removed the bracket holding the two sides of the backrests together? Big gold torx bolt that the bracket slots on to? That shouldn't come off.

The threads always rot where they are under the car and its a pathetic little torx head on it in the first place so very easy to round off.

As dan says once that happens best bet is weld a nut to it as if you grind the head off then you end up with the problem of how to remove the rest of the rusted in thread.


There are two bolts on the centre bracket and one needs to come out but the other only needs to be loosed a touch by the way.
