Sports cats worth it?

I've been trying to decide whether to get a decat but everyday someone posts a new thread about decats, I read peoples opinions and it changes my mind due to some of the cons.

So would it be worth gettin a sports cat even though they are twice the price, or should I just stop whining and get a decat lol.

If theres noting wrong with yours... get a decat.

if its fooked, then decat maybe an option!

Just comes down to your opinion on changing it over every year for MOT.

If you can be bothered, get a straight pipe, they're not that loud or environmentally unfriendly on a 2.0L

If you can't, then don't bother, sports cat isn't worth £300 for a bhp or 2 (the kind of gain you'll get from a 2.0L NA).

Exactly. I'm not sure I could be arsed with the hassle of swapping it over every year on a 172.

you could just do what i do and go 2 an mot garage which is decat friendly

I run a Janspeed sportscat with one of there exhausts and apart from the yellow emissions light coming on ocassionally I've found it to be a decent improvement.

The 182 had an improved cat over the 172. The 182s was 200cell metallic.

I have just bought a 100cell Jetex cat

This is an improvement over the 182 cat and is still legal. The emissions light will however still come on.

So a sports cat will be an improvement but ideally you should try and get a 100cell cat for the biggest gain. You are probably only talking mid range gains though.
