Spraying the clio mk2 interier....

  Audi S3 225

Hi I need a little help, there is a part off my Clio that I want to spray silver like on the 172 but cannot work out how to get it off.

It’s the part that goes around the air vents head unit and controls, in the middle of the dash, not the whole lot just that small bit going around them.

I’ve seen interior of the 172 and it looks mint so much better than my standard plasticy interior.

Anyway anyone got any ideas of how to get it off or do I have to take the whole dash off top get to it?

Thx

Just been out, after realising that I need to take the whole top and bottom part of the dash off to get to it. I read the walkthrough on the main page, it helped a bit but now im soooo stuck, there are 2 screws underneath the steering wheel column and they are a mission to get to they are in a deep hole and the screw is at the end of it and I cant undo them because I cannot see where the screwdriver is and cant tell whether im turning it or not!!!

Now I have a loose dash with bare screws all over the show, dunno where half of em go, headuinit wont go in all the way now and its just started to rain so ive left everything a proper mess!!

Any help on how to get to these screws? I’m gonna give it another go 2moro after work.

thx

u have to remove the top of the casing on the steering column. underneath the wheel there are screws that will loosen the casen so that the top part pops off, allwing u to get to the screws underneath the dials.

also lay down on the seat with your feet at the top and head at bottom get a torch holder (girlfriend!)

as for spraying id suggest masking up the part that you dont wanna spray VERY well indeed

The two screw on the higher part of the steering colum need to be removed but leave the third one, the bottom one. in place as it doesnt need to be removed.

When reasembling it all the two plastic screws and grubs go into the sides of the dash.

The four screws with large heads onthem go into the front of the dash where you removed the trim from. The three scres with smaller heads go into the top of the dash. Another two scres with large heads go into the part of the dash in front of the speedo clocks and then two more under the steering column.

K thx, Im gonna go have another go at the screws, wot a pain the ass, thinking about going down halfords and getting some decent tweeters while the dash is off, cos i aint gonna do it again.

It is safe to drive without the top and bottom part of the dash isnt it??

How or why did you take the bottom of the dash off?

I drove about for a week with the dash off no problems. After the third time taking the c*nting thing out you become quite quick at it. Hateful job taking it out and putting it back though.

And it has to come out again at the weekend to fit the resolution tweeters :(

I got them 2 screws out so everything should be fine all that needs doing is getting the dash off......and it wont bloody come away!! It seems connected at both ends to the plastic trim that runs up both sides of the front windscreen, seems that its clipped ive been trying as hard as possible to pull the dash away from the car and it aint happening. anyone else had this problem, remember my car is a mk2 1.2 16v. so probably different to the new clios and sports.
