Spraying Tips?

Howdy,
A year or so back, I decided to spray my RS Grille like so ;

I had no issue with the finish and looked good in the end. Now I've got my 182, and I'm doing it again.

The only trouble with how I sprayed it (on the floor) , caused it to warp somewhat. Making it a massive pain to get back on to the clio.

Anyone have any tips to avoid this?

warping from spraying? did you heat it after?

Not intentionally!? If I recall it was a fairly warm day, and I had sprayed it in my conservatory. (Little bit like an oven? lol)

No idea how you managed to warp it!

Support it on some wooden blocks in a similar way to how it would sit on the car.

It'll help keep it's shape, on the off chance the solvents in the paint are causing the plastic to soften. It'll also ensure you cover the areas you see when it's on the car.

I could also do with some spraying tips.

I done my mirror caps last night, rubbed them down etc then washed them and dried them.

Gave them 2 coats of primer 2 or paint and 2 of laquer, but they have gone all wrinkley.

Anyone got any idea why?

Did you sand down after the undercoat etc,too thick coats, temperature too cold, could be a few things

I didnt sand it down between coats as the finish looked perfect, it was only when it had been sitting for a while.

I did leave it in the garage to dry while i was inside and it was pretty cold outside so maybe the temprature caused it?

Halfords primer, paint and laquer, so probably bad paint haha

I've used their stuff a million times, shouldn't be anything wrong with it? The only thing I'd think of is too heavy coats.

Best tip (Especially if you are like me) - Get a professional to do it, and you will get better results lol!

The crackles in the paint could be a reaction to something left on the surface underneath the fresh paint.

Best to get some panel wipe to clean any grease / wax left on the paint to minimize reaction of the new paint.

I had rubbed them down and rinsed them with water then dried them.

Probably something along the lines of Frasers reply. I was in a hurry and they felt dry :p

Ill redo them on sat with more patience.
