do you need spring comprresors to remove old springs or to fit lowering springs on a 182 thanks.

just undo the top nut on the strut whilst on the car and use the weight to compress ?

^nope, the shock will tear open the CV boots if you do that!

Yep,

Loosen it off while the car is on the ground etc then remove the strut from the car before undoing the top mount nut, they will be under tension but nothing a bit of bodyweight won't counteract - take your time , don't rush and you will be fine
