Squeaky brakes

Hi all,

Brakes on my 2000 1.4s Clio squeak when braking, and there is also squeaking when the car is turning right. I'm pretty sure the squeaking when turning to the right is coming from the front passenger side, but can't be 100% sure. Any suggestions on what the cause is?

Just a bit of resonance from the pad... and it may be a wee bit sticky.

Easily sorted by taking them out... giving them a clean with brake-cleaner and a wire-brush... and putting-them back-in again.

Sometimes, a bit of coarse sandpaper in the outer-rim of the disc works too (depending on how much corrosion is there).

Also , it may be down to your pad material... all or mine squeak, ever since I fitted DS2500 pads.

i always get this on my 1.4s mate. it comes and goes, different squeaks, often when I have the wheels a little to the right too. if your worried go to a garage though.

Cheers all,

I did get a 12 month warranty with the car when I got it in July, under the brakes it says I'm covered for the following...

Brake master and wheel cylinders, servo, restrictor valve, pumps, calipers and seals. Excluding: failure due to corrosion or seizure

Whilst it sounds easy enough to sort, my skill is computers and not cars - so if this can be done under the warranty I'd like it to be.

Likely to be covered?

Cheers,

Graeme

sometimes it is simple as just putting some copper grease on the back of the brake pads :)
