SRP & EGP applied by hand

B

Hi Guy's

Just wondered how i would go about getting the best effects applying these by hand? Do I just apply a thin coat let it dry and buff it off, or should i try and work it in a little then dry and buff off? When is the polishing work done on, application or removal?

Sorry if it's been covered before I did a search but didn't find exactly what I was looking for!

Thanks

SRP - Panel at a time, buff off.

EGP - As thin as possible over the all the panels, leave on for as long as possible but can be buffed off in about an hour after application if you need to use the car or whatever but if you can leave it on over night you'll get better results.

Hope this helps,

Alan.

I use these . Much better than the little yellow foam pads as they actually give some bite when you polish .

Agreed, but foam pads are by far the best for waxes though as they don't absorb much and are very smooth.

Hope so I just ordered some :) I also ordered the white and red pads in the picture. So am I right in thinking I may need to work the polish in with the pad in worse areas like small scratches?

The foam pad shown and mf pads have a slightly more abrasive surface than the soft yellow pads, and also allow you to carry more product on them.

I use the pad as shown in the image to use on areas where there is a specific scratch or mark I want to get rid of, as opposed to mf pads which I use when doing an entire car - either polishes, sealants or glazes. I then use the small yellow pads for (typically paste) waxes as they allow you to apply a super thin layer and just seem to work better for me. Also means you waste less wax - bonus!

Use the german applicator all over the car with the SRP not just any scratched areas . I use the microfibre applicators for waxes and imo they don't absorb anymore product than the yellow foam pads , after all they are foam and foam by nature absorbs things . Once the microfibre applicators have been loaded with wax is stays on the surface , it doesn't keep on absorbing the wax . The only time i use the little yellow foam pads is for applying EGP .

Main user error with the SRP is using to much and not working it enough.

People moan it dust - User error.

Small blob on a foam hand pad, 5-20 pence sized is enough to do a door, quarter of a roof or bonnet. Apply it to the panel and keep working it till it has almost gone and there is little or nothing to remove, will wipe of easily and dust free.
