Stainless steel manifold and decat

  Renault Clio 172
Hi,I was thinking about buying a ss manifold and decat pipe for my 172. I found the pair for £230 which I think is cheap,it doesn't have a big name brand on it so was wondering if I should be wary,do names matter or is it just a tube of steel at the end of the day. Could any1 help?

Welcome mate, you can pick up a genuine 182 manifold and decat for that price.. I would go for that if I were you..

Yep I seen a 182 manifold and ktec do a direct replacement pipe for 182 manifold to 172 exhaust for roughly the same price. Why not bother with the manifold as I was lead to believe it would add a little more bhp. Thanks for the input.

Hi mate, I'm gonna guess you've found the toyosport one, avoid! By all accounts it doesn't fit!

As for changing to the 182 manifold, speaking from direct experience, it doesn't make a great deal of difference, a little bit on paper but very little difference on the road.

Ye was the toyosport one thot it too good 2b true, tho was looking forward to doing bits and bobs to it before a remap and just getting a little more edge, have now read a decat alone won't make much difference
on it's own. What to do? Any ideas? Cheers

If your going to get it mapped, you just as well get it all done before hand. if it were me i think i would go, matched inlets, 182 manifold, decat + exhaust, better induction setup, then map. (if you dont intend on spending big money on cams/itbs etc.)
