Stale fuel

I was just reading old posts about starting problems coz for the first time yesterday my car wouldnt start until the 3rd try...some peolpe seem to think that fuel could be the problem and I was wondering if anyone has been able to confirm this??

I tend to fill up on optimax once a week, but for the past two weeks Ive only filled up once...so the fuel was lowish and it was two weeks old, so Im hoping that this is the problem and nothing more serious..any views??

Its more likely to be associated with the length of time that the fuel has been in the tank at the petrol station. If they dont sell much Optimax it could have been there for ages.

Ive never had to have 3 goes to start the car - maybe the hot weather has something to do with it?

My mate has a 306 convertible that he hardly evere drives. mainly keeps it in the garage and uses the works fan.

Took the car for the mot the other day and it failed on emissions, turns out the petrol had gone stale, he had left it for a couple of months.

my cars been ok today since I filled up...maybe it was just to low on fuel, and parked on a hill probably didnt help....
