Standard 1.2 Road Speed?

  Clio 1.2 1997
Hi,

Hope some members may be able to help. I have a standard 1997 1.2 clio (old shape) think its the D7F engine.

Love the car, but seems very underpowered.

My clio is bog standard, no mods as yet, it gets to 60mph quite easily,
but does not want to go faster, unless downhill , and only just touches 70 mph.

I am no boy racer, but seems a little underpowered for a car in good condition whose engine seems otherwise fine i.e , do not burn oil etc.

It starts fine, round town is great, just try to avoid motorway!

its had new plugs , air filter , oil and filter change. Infact the only item i intend to change soon is the fuel filter.

Any thoughts or advice would be most welcome

Regards to all ... Andy

:)

Thanks for that, had loads of small cars in the past, just never a clio, will look at fuel starvation, perhaps a clogged fuel filter.

p.s. as a newbee, did i post this in the correct place?

  None
About 120mph down hill (needs to be a long one) and about 108mph on a flat, varing on wind direction and how many people are in the car lol. These are clock speeds btw
