Standard 172 Alarm Problems

  Ph-Quick
Hi guys,

Got a problem with my alarm. Basically within a minute of locking the car the alarm goes off. Have discovered that it is either the boot/bonnet or door sensors.

I have now diagnosed that with the doors closed the door open symbol beside the clock is illuminated. Now what i'm not sure is does this light up if the bonnet/boot is open or just the doors? If its just the doors then that rules out the bonnet and boot.

Anyone know how much the sensors are new and are they hard to replace, when I eventually diagnose which one is at fault?

Cheers,
Paul

Doors and boot only illuminate the door open light. Unplug the sensors one at a time and put a short across the pins (assuming they just short when you shut the door) you should be able to find the knackered one.

Cheers for that, shall try tomorrow.

The boot light appears to be staying on (as does the interior light) when I lock the car. Does anyone know does the boot open put the interior light on, and also vice versa - does an open door put the boot light on!?

Think i'll just have to try and eliminate them one by one tomorrow.

Open door doesn't put the boot light on and I don't think the boot puts the interior light on obviously puts the boot light on though.

Hmmm - i potentially have 2 sensors away then as i took the parcel shelf out and closed the boot and the light was still on!

More investigation needed.

Thanks for your help!

Hi mate, have you managed to sort out the alarm yet?
I'm having similar problems with mine!
