Allo everyone!
Anyone know how easy it is to link up an ipod to the clio standard cd player head unit? i dont really want to get an i-trip, would rather link it up direct with the head unit. Any ideas fellas??

Cheers

The standard clio headunit doesnt have any inputs as far as I could tell when I removed mine.. so good luck!

have you installed your ipod in your clio then? Does the control on the steering wheel still work when you change the head unit over?

When you put your head unit in, did you lose the volume controls on the steering wheel and that?

Nope, although it depends on the head unit. Quite a few alpine, pioneer, etc have seperate looms that keep the controls and headsup display :)

With the new clio fitting a new headunit will loose the controls as there is currently no adapter avaliable for it as far as I know.

As a Campus is a mk2 ph3(?) then you should be able to use the dension ice link for the ipod, no idea how it works though.

Those dension ice links look pretty smooth to be fair, think that might be the way forward, only got the car on Sunday and like the idea of having my ipod in there, but dont want wires everywhere.

The ice links easy to install do you know?

No idea never used or installed one, quite a few people on here have so i'm sure someone can give you some info.

All you do is plug it into the cd changer socket in the back of the head unit i got my self last week a connects 2 aux in box so i can put my archos hardrive in my car it just make the head unit think its a cd on a changer because it not a ipod couldnt find anywhere that does one that contols it but all i really wanted is to listen to it so i skip tracks on the unit its self igot the connects 2 from halfords for 50 pound and then you just plug it into the headphone socket

http://www.connects2.com/ this is the company i got mine from though halfords but if you want to control your ipod from the headunit
try this

I went down the denison route, with a dock cable in the glove box rather than a visable cradle. Was a five min job.

Pull out the headunit, plug the link cable into the CD changer port on the headunit, feed the cable into the glove box, refit the head unit and the jobs a good 'un.

All the contols and display still work, the ipod can be controlled by them to.

So you got the dock in your glove box rich, they take up a lot of room? Take it you could have it mounted on display if you wanted to?

Dos the denison work even with the standard head unit, or just the aforementioned Alpine/Pioneer/etc head units?

The dock cable is the same size as the one that comes with ipod to connect to your PC, so it takes up no more space than the ipod itself.

Dension sell a cradle that mounts on display.

Matt this looks like what I've been looking for in order to use my IRiver mp3 player with my standard HU. Which model number do I require for use in the Clio?

Thanks

Sneeks

EDIT: I'm guessing it's the CTVRNX001 which I've found online for £39.99?

The Dension kit's wire can come out directly from the back of the cradle and the the gap between the fascia that hold's the hazzard/door lock/rear screen and the top right of the corner of the h/u i fed the cable through there.

  A4 Avant & A3
the Ice Link plus (2nd link) is the better one. That plugs into your cd changer socket on the back of the HU, this provides spot on sound quality & allows you to control your ipod using the stalk & HU controls.

Whereas the other (cheaper one) is done through the aerial connection so quality will be lost, also i don't think you'll get as much (if any) control of the ipod from the stalk & HU controls.. other than volume.
