I've had my 2001 172 for a couple of months now and in that time I've have a few stating issues.
Twice upon stating the car a light has illuminated on the dash which looks very much like a heart beat displayed on a screen, that's the only way I can describe it, I don't really know what the light means but when that light stays on there's hang and 2000rpm. If you press down on the accelerator pedal, nothing happens the revs stay the same. Both times this has happened I have turned the engine off and back on again and it was fine both times.
Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated,
Next issue... I don't use the car that frequently and the car can sit for a week at a time without moving sometimes. A couple of weeks ago the car wouldn't start, I jumped it and it was fine for a while. Last night I used the car for the first time in 4 days and the car started first time. I drove 10 miles down the road to a mates house and 2.5 hours later went the start the car and it was very sluggish in starting and kept turning over. Eventually it started but took its time.
I checked the battery but I can't see that is the issue, it's a fairly new Bosch 4 year battery but is only rated 470 CCA. The test showed 392 CCA but again it hadn't been used for a while.
Does anyone know what the battery shoud be rated at, it might be because it's a bit colder now the battery hasn't got enough grunt to start the car,
I have thought it could be an electrical drain, but it would be flat every time I went to it if that was the case.
Any help on this would be appreciated too.
Thanks,
rob
