Steam guru's (PC only, consoles GTFO), help required here.

My stupid dad has decided he wants to play modern warfare 2 (only the single player, he's too old for the mp) only problem is i want to play it online and he will take approximately 6.2 years to complete the singleplayer in which time i could of got to at least prestige 3. He is installing at the moment which will take like forever because its steam and its s**t.

My question is, once he has started the singleplayer game, can i log into my steam account, logging him out, and play online without it stopping him playing the SP?

With games that require the CD to play, we've done it before where he's started the game then once its started he gives me the CD and it works fine still (even though you can't run the game without the CD in) so i thought this might work but thought someone here might know.

I know there is the option of downloading cracks etc that let you play the SP without steam being involved at all but he doesn't want stuff like that on his comp which i understand.

Any help is appreciated.

Has he bought it via Steam or does he have a DVD? (the latter I guess?)

Thumbsup for not being a console noob :)

Ah russ, i should have said the problem is that its MY modern warfare 2 he is using, my disks and therefore my steam account because its registered to my steam account and you can't register it to more than 1.

Have you actually tried that? Kick-starting the SP game on his PC, then firing up MP on yours? I don't think it will work, but what's the worst that can happen? It kicks him out of SP.

The other option (I guess) would be to start Steam on his in Offline Mode. The downside to that is that I don't think it records any achievements that he may get. It would allow you to start the MP version of MW2 though, unhindered?
