Steering angle sensor, what is it?

I see the steering angle sensor on the left hand side of the inlet manifold, but what does it do exactly?

also what are the common faults to trip this as I can't find a clear answer

I changed to an aftermarket steering wheel and the service & traction lighy arse on, plugged it in and it says 'steering angle sensor' was the fault

dont know if it's cause of the steering wheel or co-insidence this has broken!

The steering angle sensor is actually behind the steering wheel. You probably spun it accidentally when fitting the new wheel so now the car thinks you are turning when you are going straight, hence the lights. Not sure how to fix it, you could try taking the wheel off and spinning the sensor and hope you hit lucky, otherwise I think it's a trip to someone with CLIP.

The sensor you are looking at in the engine bay will probably be the power steering pressure sensor.

See that is what I thought and have red up on it before, and that the yellow dot has to line up through the clear window behind the Bose kit, I've tried this a few times and still hasn't solved the problem!

aww, I seen someone point that out on a Clio Facebook page saying that was the steering angle sensor, did think that was an off place for it!

Probably got the wrong boss.

Have a look on diagnostics at the angle it thinks it's at when the steering wheel is straight.
