Steering creaking

Hi all,

My 2011 200 just started making a horrendous noise when straightening from full lock. I noticed it as I reverse out of my parking space every morning and straightening up to start going forwards.

Sounds like a really loud creaking noise. Anyone had this issue before?

could be a number of things, top mounts, steering rack bushes, tie rod ends, damaged coil spring... if you know your way around a spanner, jack the front up and have a buddy hold the steering wheel in position and give the wheels a hard shake, left to right and up and down, there should be no play, if there is, take the wheel off and see what is moving...

the racks do wear as well so dont rule out play in the actual rack...

I know my car is a different model and year but i had the same thing and turned out just to be loose steering rack bolts,worth having a look at them mate.

Ball joints/hubs

Normally lower joints or outer rods.

Hub bearings maybe.
