steering feels vaugue not precise.

  182 ff
i had new oem dampers/top mounts/sportlines fitted, before car the went in, it had new steering rack/track rod ends fitted,
the steering felt great really precise.

once the parts was fitted, i let it settle for a week,in this time the steering was making a noise and front suspension making a noise over slow bumps.
garage said bring it back to get the tracking done,so i did and told them about the noises.

they said the alignment was put in the green zone of the settings. checked the suspension was ok(seems less noisy now)

has anyone got any ideas why the steering feels so loose now?
also when i go round a corner you have to move the wheel more than i did before.

i do not want to take it back to the garage,as i want to take it to an alignment specialist.
any views would be grateful ,thankyou.

Did they take all the wheels off, or just fronts? Just thinking it could be as simple as tyre pressure, as can easily be overlooked. Or it could be any number of things for your knocking, the Eibachs will make it feel a little bit worse over bumps but not bad.

dont no what they did, after they fitted the suspension, steering was still tight and precise.(but just knocking)
week latter they did tracking /checked suspension.
as soon as i got down the road, steering didnt feel the same. as if there is loads of play in the steering wheel,
before it when back in for tracking handled great ,i was flying round country lanes with all new suspension, even with crap tyres it felt like a go kart.
now feels so loose, like theres a delay when u steer ,cause so much play.

dont wanna go back there,i had braided lines /rear discs/pads fitted same time,

i told them brakes seems worse than before, they said they would bleed them again.
(i can still press pedal to the floor)is that normal?

you just feel embarrassed keep going back complaining.
just you know your own car better than anyone.

i wanted to get all handling/suspension sorted out 1st(had new steering rack/rod ends)
then buy my yokohama AD08 tyres (k tec or kam doing a great offer)

i was finally enjoying the car,it was living up to all the good things people say.
now just dont wanna drive it.

Something come loose?

Get them to check over EVERYTHING

Bloody hell, how much did the new rack etc cost to get done?

I've got;
both inner rods
both rod ends
rack bushes
powerflex ARB bushes
new wishbones with powerflex bushes

All going into mine before the end of this month, and that was pricey enough but I'm doing the whole front to tighten things up :)

rack cost £316 complete with bushes and t rod ends. 5 weeks a go, felt to much better.

said pas pipe was rusty so needed that to fit new rack(months ago i had other pas pipe fitted)
so had to pay £157 for new one, they fitted it for free.
so for everthing fitted was £640.

like i said before just bought 4 new damper/mounts/rear dics/pads and sportlines/ k tec hoses,
had all them fitted for £290, so they have had loads of business of me.
they have been ok ,just bit p,,sed of now cause car was feeling really good.

might take it pro tyre(an alignment specialist) get read out of all the goemetry, see what the dealership has done.
maybe ask about my camber bolts i bought(dealer said dont trust them) so never fitted them.

Just read you've had all four shocks done, you've had all four wheels off. Check tyre pressures first SERIOUSLY!!! Could be a 50p fix.

i got old suspension back,
front spring was broken(snapped, still passed mot)
other front spring was off a clio 1.2
front damper leaking
rear damper a kyb one(easy to compess)
i no why now handled like jelly now.

do you think i should get new inner rods?(i no come complete with wishbones oem ones)
and power flex/ABR bushes?
so everything is done then at the front.

I'm just saying as I know the pressures have a big effect on Clios and if the backs have been put on the fronts and vice-versa it will behave like you're saying. Then again it could be something else but you won't know until you check.
