Sounds like the power steering pump. Reservoir filled?

It's half the way down the tube but that would mean that it's between min an max level.:S

Any whining noise? Probably not the same as the Impreza I had,but if not completely topped up a whining would occur.

Sounds like an intermitent fault with the steering pump. A noise louder than normal can be heard when the wheels are moved when stationary?

Check your aux belt ins't due a chnage or is loose sounds likly that the belts slipping unless the pumps/rack are broken.
