Steering Problem - Is it tracking?

Steering problem: Steering wheel is straight, turn right in a bend, straighten up but the wheel isn’t straight to make the car drive in a straight line.

Just had a new steering rack fitted but not tracked and aligned - could that be the problem?

Thats something loose if the steering wheel is changing position relative to direction

Yeah I'd get the tracking done and see how it is then.

changes steering rack without doing tracking afterwards......wonders if that might be the source of the problem....

Eyup, I didn't change the rack - I've just bought the car!

I'd be making sure the clamps round the steering rack bushes had been tightened up properly. Sounds like the rack is moving about!

If it was just tracking then it would at least be consistent in that the steering wheel doesn't match the direction of the wheels, if that's changing/moving around then something hasn't been tightened correctly or a knackered mount somewhere.
