Steering wheel boss valver!

I have just bought a steering wheel boss (momo) for my valver and now that i have fitted it with my wheel it seems to stick out a lot further than the standard one did? I can no longer reach the stalk controls?

Any ideas why? Is there a nu,ber of bosses of different thicknesses?
