steering wheel stalk control

Since i fitted my new headunit, an Alpine CDE-126BT,the control on the steering wheel stalk now doesnt work since the headunit has been replaced. Has anyone else had this happen to them and if so how was it resolved. I've also lost the display where the clock is too :S

You need to buy a specific adapter for it to work.

You need a seperate wiring bit to connect to the stereo mate.

I cant remember off hand what it is, but www.caraudiodirect.com do it.

according to halfords the entire dashboard has to come off due to the fact that the wires need to be plugged into the clock and somewhere else behind the dash.

I had an Alpine unit, I bought the adapter wires, they just plugged in behind the unit itself, there's a lot of wires tucked away behind the unit so it's a bit of a faff, but no dash removal was required for me.

The issue I found was trying to squeeze all the wires behind the unit! There so many yet so little space to put 'em!
