Had 4 new tyres fitted two weeks ago and since then everytime i get to about 75+mph the steering wheel wobbles like mad. I dont think its the tracking, and i thought new tyres wouldnt need balancing. Any ideas?
I would say get the wheels balanced to start with as thats the most common cause. If that doesn't sort it then it's likely to be more expensive to get fixed.
If you have aftermarket wheel with centre ring (for centre hole size adjustment), make sure they are secure well!!! Try to jack up the front (side by side), turn and see if it runs nicely. If not, take the wheel out and check the centre ring.
I had the same problem an hour ago after re-grease the powerflex bushes. And solved it right away after recheck the wheel.
Rebalance, may have thrown a weight as you left the garage, if its in the wheel its the fronts, if you can feel it in the base of the seat its the rears
Have people got the hidden balancing weights fitted to their 172 alloys ok? Kwik-fit ended up fitting exterior ones as they thought that was the problem on mine. It did work though.
