steering

mates got a fiesta and the steering keeps going from light to heavy. said id ask on here if anyone had any suggestions on what it could b. it hasnt got power steering.

sorry not a clio but thought some of u guys might have an idea.

speeds hes doing? slow will be heavier. or tyre pressures make a big difference

has it been lowred.....if it has been lowered alot then geometry can be afected to the point that steering effort needed is dramatically changed.

What fezzy is it?

What has he done before the change etc etc..

it hasnt been lowered and this change occurs at low speeds. just sometimes heavy and sometimes light. obviously at higher speeds its much lighter anyway! tyre pressures were checked the other day and they r all ok too.

yeah i drove an escort once that had this problem, it was really really wierd, like when you took a corner the wheel felt like it was collapsing, suddenly becoming very light, and then heavy again!

thought it must be very dodgy, sorry i never hung around to find out what it was down to!

just spoke to him and sometimes gets heavy even at high speeds!

Im driving an 89 Mk3 Fiesta ATM until i get tax for me clio and my steering does exactly the same thing! When going round bends at 20MPH or more the steering goes VERY light...... gotta be something to do with early fords im guessin.

Does this car have power steering if so it may be the fluid is surging through the rack and causing heavy then light steering. This is what happened to me when I had a Ren 19 .

Maybe its this maybe not but worth a thought

might be horribly far out tracking....

My MK1 XR2 had the toe so far out that when i steered, it would vary between easy, hard, then it would turn itself....lol

but its not quite the same problem....always happened at the same point.
