stereo confusion

hi, only had my clio a day and trying to iron out problems, connected a aftermarket head unit (known to be working, as was removed from another car) up and while the power button lit up, the actual stereo would not turn on, the screen failing to display anything however the standard renault radio worked fine when reconnected, any siggestions?, cheers in advance!

Have you tried altering the permanent and switched feed to the head unit? Most aftermarket head units will come with bullet connectors on these cables so you can easily switch the cables round
