Still Running In!

  172 GTR

Ive now done 1500 miles. Of course its still getting quicker, but how many miles would you expect me to do before the car is at its best?

Thanks in advance:D

yeah im at nearly 5k and even tho the car revs a lil bit freely the gearbox is still not quite right.....

too scared to introduce it to the rev limiter.......

 @ Running in just thrash it! Engines are bench tested at 14000 rpm before been fitted. Mines got nearly 12k and is a totally different car to when it had 5 or 6 k on it. It had a pretty hard run in (always allowed to warm up tho before been thrashed.

Im with the idea of giving it some stick to bed it in. There no way the engine is given 14k before fitment though valves are usless above 9k they start to bounce and all. (Ive forgotten the proper name) There was a roumour about this but its untrue. The forum user on here who races them says 9k about the limit.

Motorbike engines are reved to 14k from new but the 172 cannot stand that.

My dci seemed to be better at 5k 10k and 15k although its probably more of my imagination as I was giving it some about this time.

lol the valves would float not bounce right ??

you could get it to rev to over 9 k but would be a totally different engine after :)

valves both float and bounce, but its the rod stretch and contact between pistona nd head that would worry me. WOrk harden them, mas into balls of metal, rods burting through the block walls, crank shattering.......

Last thing i would be worried about is valve float and bounce.
