STOP light and oil light at the same time???

car is a 172 cup. starts and runs as normal saying oil ok. problem comes when engine speed hits some where around 2500 rpm and at random throughs up the above 2 warning lights... when turned off then back on the problem goes away, but only til the engine hits 2500 rpm again. could it just be going a bit funny with all the snow? any ideas???

like you say it could be cold weather as you've got it Arctic up there I believe. If it's fine when dipped, and the trip is saying ok then it's probably fine. Just keep an eye on it.

if it does keep doing it, it could be worth getting it run on diagnostics to check any other issues

Diagnostics on a Clip will most likely turn up nothing. Those two lights will only come on when a low oil preasure has been observed. Your problem is one of the following :

1 - The oil preasure switch is faulty.
2 - The actual oil preasure is low.

If its a faulty switch then it is easily fixed by fitting a new unit. The safest way to prove it is by removing the sensor and fitting a mechanical gauge that will measure the actual oil preasure. If the measured reading is within acceptable tollerance then a faulty switch is the most likely cause. If its actual low oil preasure then a blockage in the oil pump pickup/faulty oil pump is the most likely cause (normally silicone from leaky sump repairs) and needs fixing.

Cheers for the info. any idea how much it would cost to fix if its an actual faulty oil pump? just want to prepare for the worst...
