Update as promised, well after all the diagnostic and other testing done it would appear as the though the EPS has in fact gone, dead, kaput. Mmmm new part price for this from Renault I believe is in the region of £900

.
Anyway as the car is only 3 1/2 years old and basically six months out of warranty with only 27,000 miles. I contacted Renault Uk customer relations and explained fully the issue. The car is now in my local Renault main dealer for them to do their own diagnostic checks etc to confirm my independent one. No charge I am assured.
The customer service manager I spoke with (very nice man) was not happy that such a part had gone in such a short time and such low mileage. If this is confirmed and the new part is required (basically whole new steering column) then Renault will pay for a majority of the cost as a good will gesture.
However always the sceptic, I will wait to see what the dealership comes up with and then what Renault come up with in respect of a good will gesture.
They did tell me they had not encountered this problem on such a new car before although there has been an issue wih the scenic eps.
Ah well no point stressing further about it until they get back to me. Never had any dealings with Renault Uk before so I dont really know what to expect.
