Storing a wash mitt

Hi all.

This may be a stupid question but after using microfibre wash mitts for ages ive bought my first proper lambs wool mitt today..

I usually leave my mitt in a bucket with a little bit of water between washes. (usually a week)

Whats the best way to store the lambs wool one? Dry it out after each wash or will it be safe enough in the water for a week at a time?

Rinse it out, then thoroughly rinse it out, then do it again, then tinge out as much as physically possible and leave to air dry in a cool dry place

he hairier they are with the likes of the carpro and wookies mitts, best get an old comb going through them.

You should see the state of the megane from the last person using a sponge! You can acually see where they have rubbed the car with the dirty sponge :l

I rinse mine, hang to dry and then store in a resealable plastic bag.

I think I've had mine 12-18 months and it's pretty much in perfect condition.

This is what I do too.. My old one lasted well over 12 months, just replaced it but the old one is stuff pretty decent.

I have a breathable "Tupperware" box that was £4 in tesco and I keep all my "damp" stuff in there.

So my wash mits and my drying towels. Seems to be working ok for me. They don't go mouldy because its breathable and they stay slightly damp which is great for my towels and doesn't seem to be doing my mitt any harm

This interests me. Why's it great for your towels to stay damp? I normally put mine on a clothes horse/airer until dry, then pack away in some plastic drawers I have in the garage. Is leaving them damp beneficial?

I rinse my wash bucket out then fill it up with fresh water and leave all my mitts in there, as it gets used at least 2 times a week it's fine.

I have 2 yellow uber drying towels and they work far better when damp. So rather than drying them all the time I just leave them damp (rung out after use) in my box with the mits. My mits tend to dry out but the towels always stay damp.

only time my towels are ever dry is after they're washed

I basically wanted to know if drying them out then wetting them all the time will damage them..

Didnt expect to be told i need to comb a mitt for washing my car haha!

Using a damp drying towel will help reduce drag over the panel.

You can get round this by drying all glass first, wetting the towel before touching a panel. Also once the fibres are initially wetted, it seems to pick up water better instead of the fibres initially resisting

pressure wash it to get rid of the s**t, then slap it about to remove most of the moisture, then hang it over the radiator with a bucket underneath to catch he drips

Thats even more effort than washing the car itself!! f**k taking the pressure washer out just to wash the mitt :p

I always stick mine in the washer, then dry them on the maiden...
Fold and store...
When I need to use them I always pre rinse them in warm water...
