Strange airbag issue and light on

  Clio 172 PH2
Hi Guys,

Wondering if someone can help, I've bought a secondhand Clio 172 PH2 (51 plate). And it looks like the airbag system has been messed with or something?. The airbag and SERV light comes on not very intermittently but as recent all the time now!. I've had a look around to clean some connectors but upon investigation it looks like someone has fiddled and hacked wires and stuff 😧 I dont know what.
  1. Under passenger pictures first (First 3 pics): only this black plug present (attached to under seat) and two loose wires that have been cut off!!.
  2. The driver's side (last 2 pics): black plug and grey plug - grey plug has two wires snipped off right at the plug you can see from the end and on the pic!
I basically want to go back to standard since it has standard seats and i want working airbags lol! i seen a clio no sport/RS in the scrapyard not sure if i can get plugs or looms.

To be honest i don't know what I'm looking at or need, I've had a quick look on here but cant make head nor tail of it. Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks

It looks as though someone has poorly attempted to get around the common problem of the airbag light coming on when the seats get moved around by using resistors to fake a signal back to the ecu.

Personally my preference would be to strip back the insulation and solder the wires back together and then recover with heatshrink (you could cut some plugs out of a donor from a scrappy and solder these in instead) as I think it's a neater job than using bullet/spade connectors.

One thing of note, the bug black plug on passenger side is for a cd changer and isn't part of the airbag system
